1. Establish a border for work and personal life.

Have a clear boundary between your work life and your private life. This way, you can make sure that when you are with your family or when you are out for a vacation, you can spend time without any calls from work. Also, when you are with your family, you can focus only with the things you do together. Do not allow the two aspects of your life to cross each other.
2. Work on your personal life.

Do not disregard your personal life. It is even more important than work because no one and nothing can ever be exchanged with the special people in your life. Aside from having time for work, try to work on your personal life, too. If you can be good in work, you can even be better in developing family relationships and in taking care of your own health.
3. Eat on time.

You will get sick if you do not eat the right food at the right time. Being a workaholic could also sacrifice your own health. Don’t forget that you need to take care of your health for you won’t be able to work if you are sick. Stay healthy so that you can still work. Eating is one way of fuelling your body for more energy.
4. Sleep on time.

Set a time for you to go to sleep. When you get home, after spending time with the family, go to sleep and get enough sleep. This way, you can even be more productive. Do not take sleep for granted because it is very vital to your health. Discipline yourself to sleep on time.
5. Limit the time for work.

Do not be spending so much time for work. Limit yourself. It is also important that you just allocate particular time for work. You can discipline yourself by creating a to-do- list of your task. Have a good schedule to balance your work and your personal life.
6. Have time to play.

There is an adage says ‘all work and no play, makes you a dull person’. Of course, it is true. When you get a break from work even just for a few hours, you are given a chance to develop your creativity. Taking some break from work can help you to think better and be more productive. Playing is also a good way to innovate new things and come up with better ideas. So, do not hesitate to play. It can help you a lot.
7. Do some reading.

Reading a book can take away stress. And when you read, let it not be related to work so that it can be a form of relaxation for you. Read for fun while you are learning at the same time. You can read fiction books so that you will be entertained. When you are reading, do not do other work, just read. After that, you will surely be recharged and you will feel better that you did not think of work even just for a while.
8. Do away with one thing a day.

You will certainly find it hard to do away with something that you had been doing for a long time. If you are really serious about curing your work addiction, then you have to do this. Try to get rid of one thing every day. You can start by getting rid of simple things until such time that you are no longer a workaholic. You will be able to appreciate how great life really is when you can finally see the great things in life and not just the four corners of your office.
9. Learn to say Thank You.

A workaholic person seldom expresses his gratitude because he thinks that what other people are doing is so little compared to what he is doing and what he have done. So, saying ‘thank you’ is a good start for you to change. Your workmates will surely be happy to hear those words from you. When you learn to express gratitude, you will begin to appreciate the things around you. You will also become a better person.
10. Avoid talking about work all the time.

Remember the last time you talked about work even if you were not at work anymore. That could be a few hours ago while having dinner with your family. Lessen time in talking about work especially if you are with your family. Let them feel that they are important to you. If you will still talk about work, you will sound boring and they will feel neglected.
11. Relax and de-stress.

When you are busy with work, you will not have time for relaxing because you will think that it is a waste of time. But you have to relax. You can stay at home and rest. Or you can have a massage to take away stress. Every individual has a different manner of de-stressing. You can do whatever you want for as long as you allocate time to relax.
12. Avoid being achievement-motivated.

One key to stop being a workaholic is to stop being achievement motivated. If you will just work and be good at it without eyeing for great achievements, you will not overwork yourself. Just perform well and aim to finish your job. For sure, if you do your best while working, you will be able to get the output you want.
13. Have more time to think.
You could be working all day long and spends time thinking regarding work. But this is not the kind of thinking we are referring to. Aside from work, there are still other things that you need to think of. Spend time to think about more important things in life. You can even spend time thinking nothing. A few minutes can already do well for you.
14. Deal with criticism positively.

When you are so focused with work, you feel like you have done everything rightly. Because of this, you find it hard to accept that you have done a mistake. Instead of getting mad, accept it positively. When you learn to do this, you will start to have better relationship with those from work.
15. Meditate each day.

A few minutes of meditation can help you overcome being a workaholic. It would be easy for you to skip this but it would be worth it if you spend a few minutes of your time meditating.
