With today’s technologies allowing us to do our business online, more and more designers are opting to use the internet to market their skills and services. Of course, in whatever business you will be engaged with, it is always important to have a good business relationship with your clients.
Returning clients doesn’t just give you more ways for a living but it could also boost your confidence in yourself and in your business. These happy clients are the ones who could give you referrals.
So, make sure to do these simple steps to guarantee returning clients.
1. Always be professional.

Talk to your clients in a professional manner. Use business cards and present a well designed portfolio. Make yourself available when they need to talk to you and always update them with regards to the progress of the project. This lets them know that you are really working on their project. And also, settle little misunderstandings all the time.
2. Be honest about everything.

You shouldn’t over commit yourself. Be honest as to what you can do and when you could finish it. Make sure that you talk with your clients everything about the project and you agree on your fees. Everything will go on well if you do this.
3. Say please and be polite.

Whenever you need something from your client, always be polite. Do not sound so demanding to your client. Say please when you ask for something and do not forget to thank them always.
4. Share information.

Explain everything to your clients especially the design process. Most clients don’t know anything about design so since you are the one who knows about this, explain things to them.
5. Show them you care.

If you could do some things for your client which could help them in their project, do it even if they do not ask you to. This gives a you a greater chance for a returning client.
6. Offer freebies.

It is good to offer some free stuff to your client. Like if you are working on a whole project to them, you can offer a free web banner design or whatever you could offer for free. Doing something extra for your client and this will make them want to work with you again.
7. Say thank you.

Aside from saying thank you when they give you some information you need, you should also say thank you when all the work is finished. Show them that you were pleased to work with them and you will also be happy to work with them again.
8. Give customers a compliment.

Give heartfelt compliments to your clients. This will make them feel good. You will also have a good customer relationship because of this.
9. Give some personal touch.

Show your customer that the work you have for them is unique with your personal touch. You can actually scribble notes also with your handwriting. And when speaking with them, call them using their names and not just “Sir” or “Madame”. They’ll be please to know that you are interested in them.
10. Show them your interest to work with them again.

After the project is finished, tell your client that you were pleased to work with them. Then tell them that you would still like to work with them for future projects. Say it nicely and you might get other projects from them too.
Make your clients happy so that they will work with you again. It is actually a challenge to deal with them but you can do it with the right attitude.
