There is a line that differentiates 2D and 3D art. Of course, 2d merely lies on a flat plane of X and Y while when we talk about 3D, a Z axis is involved. 3D works also tend to look more realistic than 2D ones although some artists have also achieved a realistic look for their works despite being 2D like realistic paintings and drawings. Today, we will feature some amazingly unique 3D object arts where you can see some elements extruding or exploding towards the viewer.
On a distance, you will not notice the transparent covering of these 3D artworks and you will really think that the objects are floating or exploding out of the frame! This is the work of Matsueda Yuki, a Japanese 3D artist who had education from Tokyo University of the Arts. His family has a printing press business but Matsueda was more interested in 3-dimensional solids rather than in 2-dimensional prints. Nevertheless, his childhood memories and aesthetic senses still retain a natural affinity for his parents‘ printed products. With his interest in 3D, he came up with a series called Escape.
Escape is a 3D art where some elements of the featured object are extruding out of the frame. It is said that “the artwork of each pattern depicts an individual outside of his or her daily life and vacationing which is one of Matsueda’s themes that change will occur simply by stepping out of one’s current situation”. You will feel like the protruding pieces wanted freedom from their usual position and wanted to try something totally new and different. Check out some of Matsueda’s works below:
Slippery Floor
It is like you have just seen someone who actually slipped on the floor with this work.
Uzura Force 7
Open egg shells wherein in the yolks were like launched out of it.
Between Majiora
Guess this protruding part is the missing piece of the puzzle!
Escape White
The alarm clock shell must have been tired of the tick-tacking sound and wanted to go far from it!
13 Set
Thirteen playing cards with 13 protruding hearts are seen in this set.
This is Exit
This is a good representation of Matsueda’s work because this shows someone escaping through the exit door.
Color Brush
Floating color tubes appear before a stroke of brush on a canvass.
Count Up Dice White
An arrow was launched from a group of dice arranged from 6 to 1 dots on accelerated heights.
Look At Me
Used to test one’s eyesight but with one piece that is out of the picture, this would change everything.
Apartment HK
An apartment signage that goes through the picture of the building.
Super Egg Box New
A box of 81 eggs and only the one at the center had a yolk out of it.
Super Dice
The dots of the dice are escaping from the cube!
No Smoking/ No Photography
Two artworks showing a no smoking sign and a no photography sign. But seems like the cigarette and the camera doesn’t want to be involved with the stop sign after all!
Find the Artist
We find the works of Matsueda Yuki very unique and imaginative. You can notice that the subjects were not just placed in whatever manner he wants but these are well-thought of. There could either be a sequence or a pattern. There is also a story behind every piece. Whatever that story is, it is for us to find out! Yuki’s 3D works can be seen in different exhibits. You can check his website so you will know where to find these.
