Tissue paper or simply tissue is a lightweight paper or light crepe paper. This is commonly used in many areas of our daily living, such as hygienic purposes, facial tissue, paper towel, table napkins, and toilet tissue. Surprisingly, beneath these sheets of tissues, there is a secret work of art available for those with imagination and keenness for adventure.
Annastassia Elias is a French multimedia artist who is behind the project Rouleaux – if translated to English is “Rolls”. As an artist must possess an imaginative mind, she had a day wondering on what to do with tissue rolls. Having a great mind and incredible hands, she has built series of tiny worlds inside tissue paper rolls. In her works, she uses tweezers to manipulate the paper shapes; and to give an even texture, she selects a paper with the same color as the rolls. When you get to lit the paper rolls from behind, it imitates a scene that appears like puppetry. These wonderful creations are still growing, in fact, Rouleaux is now available as a book for everyone to also enjoy creating their own piece of artwork.
